Noh Theater in the Garden – Experience Japanese Beauty in an Urban Forest

Theater & Film, Traditional Events

Experience the traditional Japanese performance art of noh in the beautiful gardens of the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. Immerse yourself in traditional and natural beauty in autumnal surroundings at two special open-air performances. Based on themes of “the mountains” and “the sea”, the first evening features “Kurozuka” (The Black Mound), followed by an afternoon performance of “Funa-Benkei” (Benkei in a Boat), two dynamic pieces that explore humanity. There are introductory workshops held before each performance allowing visitors to handle the props and learn more about the art of noh.

The event includes English translation and subtitles, and in case of rain will be held at the Kita Noh Theatre.
