Matthew Bourne’s “Cinderella”
The classic tale is re-imagined in a production by the UK’s multi award-winning choreographer and director Sir Matthew Bourne OBE. Considered a master of the British ballet world, Bourne is know for his popular and innovative reinterpretations of classic works, from his all-male Swan Lake to a recent adaptation of the 1948 movie The Red Shoes. Set in London during the Second World War, this version of Cinderella is features a modest, bullied stepdaughter having a chance encounter with an injured pilot. The ballet is a perfect mix of wartime romance and fairytale magic complete with the essentials: a missing shoe and an angel… on a motorcycle!
