Long Life Design 1: Healthy Design in 47 Prefectures
This exhibition at the d47 Museum on the fourth floor of Shibuya Hikarie explores design concept and longevity as well as regional influence in Japan’s current and future cultural landscape. As the globalization and commodification of Japanese design and culture continues to reach further around the world, regional background and individual local elements offer a fresh and healthy influence. Environmentally conscious consumers are rejecting trend-based styles and actively seeking out long lasting and “healthy” design from furniture to product packaging. The exhibition showcases examples of long life design products representing each of Japan’s 47 prefectures.
