Culture, Nature, Traditional Events

Learn the history of Maiwai, a beautiful kimono gifted to the fishermen when they had a big catch in the old days!

Travel to beautiful Minamiboso in Chiba Prefecture for a weekend day trip to learn and experience the local fishing history and culture through a guided tour, which takes you on a private ride across the peninsula along the coastline. You’ll stop by at the Shirahama Marine Museum, home to the largest collection of Maiwai in Japan, and listen to a special presentation made by the museum’s owner. Following a hefty fresh seafood lunch, you’ll also experience painting miniature Maiwai which you’ll be able to take home!

The tour will be conducted in English and is open for 2 to 8 people. You are welcome to join with your own vehicle.
