La Guerre de Troie n’aura pas lieu (The Trojan War Will Not Take Place)
The Playhouse at the New National Theater, Tokyo presents Jean Giraudoux’s masterpiece La Guerre de Troie n’aura pas lieu (The Trojan War Will Not Take Place). As part of the theater’s 20th anniversary program, Tamiya Kuriyama directs a new production of this well-known tragedy, originally written by Giraudoux in 1935. The story is set on the eve of the outbreak of the Trojan war, dealing with a leader’s struggle and the impending fate of destruction or glory. The subject of the foolishness of humankind in its rush to war has a relevance which continues to endure to this day. The cast includes Ryohei Suzuki, Maki Ichiro, Anne Suzuki and Ayumi Tanida, performed in Japanese. Check the website for performance times and full details.
