Kodo Nishimura – “This Monk Wears Heels” Book Event

Live Streaming & Online, Meetups | Workshops | Talks

A Jodo sect Buddhist monk by day, a makeup artist by night and an activist in between, Kodo Nishimura rose to fame after his appearance in “Queer Eye: We’re in Japan!” Now, in this upcoming tell-all autobiography “This Monk Wears Heels”, Kodo talks about his childhood past, the duality of the priest and queer within him and the long-silenced struggle the LGBTQ community faced in Japan. From role-playing characters from Sailor Moon to working backstage with six Miss Universe pageants, Kodo gives a broader glimpse of what it’s like living to be a queer — beyond the glam, glitters and dresses, homophobia and peer pressure still prevail.

Inspiring and stirring, readers will come across Kodo’s path to self-love and know what it truly means to embrace your own identity. Get to know Kodo and his book (to be published in February 2022) at the U.S. Book Show via Zoom.
