About 300 pieces will be displayed at this new major exhibition at Tokyo National Museum, including kimonos worn by prominent historical figures such as Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, Ieyasu and Atsuhime, short-sleeved kimonos directly painted on by Ogata Korin, as well as paintings depicting kimonos that are national treasures and kimonos designed by modern designers. It is an exhibition of an unprecedented scale that provides a comprehensive overview from the Kamakura period to the modern era.

Yoshikimono, a brand created by X Japan’s leader and a global artist, Yoshiki, was selected for this special exhibition as creations that represent the modern era. Yoshikimono, designed by Yoshiki, who was born and raised as the eldest son of the owner of a kimono fabrics shop, aims to create kimonos that suit modern women and foreigners as well.

All tickets will be timed-entry tickets and must be purchased in advance online.
