“Who is Kaho?” Kaho Kidoguchi Musical Concert
Inspired by New York’s up-and-coming musical writers, in 2015 Kaho Kidoguchi started her YouTube channel, 54 Below in Japan, recording covers of musicals at her home in Hyogo prefecture, and posting them to her channel. Her pure, simple and natural performances have captivated Broadway writers and actors who eagerly await Kaho’s latest videos. In 2017 she was featured as the lead vocalist in the recording of The 8-Bit Big Band, directed by Broadway musician Charlie Rosen. Kaho, winner of Smash Cabaret’s first anniversary competition, is also the vocalist of the theme song for Cartoon Network’s animation, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.
For her debut concert in Tokyo, she wants audiences in Japan to become familiar with new musical theater material, and many songs selected for this concert come straight from young Broadway writers on the rise. (All songs will have Japanese subtitles).
Guests featured in Who is Kaho? are Rob Rokicki and Amanda Flynn. Rob is a composer and lyricist. He wrote The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical and as an actor he performed in national tours of Evita 25th Anniversary Tour and Miss Saigon. Amanda is an established vocal coach based in New York City who has worked on Broadway productions of Be More Chill and The Lightning Thief.
