Kabuki Performance for Beginners: Ichijo Okura Monogatari

Each summer the National Theatre organises special kabuki performances aimed at students and those who are new to the traditional performing art. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the art of kabuki in a prestigious theater. Ichijo Okura Monogatari tells the story of the seemingly foolish aristocrat Ichijo Okura and his wife Tokiwa Gozen. The couple are both hiding secrets and a surprising plan is revealed. Each performance will begin with a introductory lecture (in Japanese).

Parent and child screenings are scheduled on specific dates so please check full details when buying tickets.
