Japan Through the Lens of an English-Language Newspaper – 120 Years of the Japan Times
This year, The Japan Times celebrated its 120th anniversary. To recognize this historic achievement, Newspark (The Japan Newspaper Museum) and The Japan Times will be holding a commemorative exhibition. Featuring more than 120 highlights that date as far back as the newspaper’s founding in 1897, the exhibit reflects both how Japan was viewed by the world and how it viewed the world during the four eras (Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei) that The Japan Times has been running. The exhibit also explores a variety of themes, including the role that the newspaper has played during times of disaster and its position as an important forum of opinions for Japan’s foreign community.
Note: the exhibit will be closed on Mondays.
