Ishioka Festival 2019 in Ibaraki Prefecture
Previously named after the Shinto shrine Hitachinokuni Sosyagu Reitaisai, this annual celebration in Ibaraki Prefecture dates back 1,000 years and is one of the most anticipated events of the year. This large-scale festival is said to be one of the greatest in the Kanto region. Come see various kinds of decorated festival floats and lion mask performances (horojishi) as well as the huge mikoshi (portable shrine) with the honorable Chrysanthemum crest. The number of parading floats is well over 40 and more than 400,000 visitors travel to Ishioka to witness their splendor.
