Higashiyama Kaii Retrospective 1908-1999

A retrospective of the renowned Nihonga (Japanese-style) painter Higashiyama Kaii held at the National Art Center Tokyo. Following on from the exhibition’s summer run in Kyoto, this will be the first large-scale retrospective of the artist’s work shown in Tokyo in over a decade. Higashiyama Kaii (1908-1999) is celebrated for his unique style of landscape painting and stunning works which utilize a captivating color palette and poetic composition. The exhibition includes a large collection of important works such as the monumental Toshodaiji Miei-do Murals.
