From photographs taken over the past 10 years, Yoko Fukuoka has selected those that give a sense of another world hidden in everyday life for her latest exhibition. Each photograph is printed twice and layered with melted wax permeating through them. This method makes a translucent image, akin to a reflection in the mirror.
“As I wandered by the show window, I noticed the reflection of the scenery on the surface of the glass. It was the same view of the city that I always see, but depending on the angle of my gaze, the collage with the interior scene was like a surreal other space. Perhaps it depends on our own way of looking at things that makes us think the familiar is a bore.”
More than 10 works will be exhibited and sold.
