Forever Saul Leiter
A revived retrospective showcases the life’s work of the late photographer Saul Leiter. Following great success as a fashion photographer in the 1950s and 1960s, Leiter began to focus on personal work after closing his commercial studio in the 1980s. His gift for capturing color and composition earned him a reputation as a pioneer of color photography and the publication of some of his works in his later years introduced his magnificent images to new generations. A first Japanese retrospective of Leiter’s work was also held at the museum in 2017, this revived exhibition includes never seen before pieces many of which come from recent discoveries made by the Saul Leiter Foundation in New York.
