Take a closer look at the styles and trends of women’s European fashion from the past 250 years. Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum continues its ‘European Mode’ exhibition showcasing outfits spanning from the Rococo, through the Industrial Revolution to the fast changing 20th century. A special section ‘Clothing Reform from the End of the 19th Century’ focuses on the changes which occurred from the end of the 19th century to around 1930. During this period the women’s liberation movement and changes in society to promote sports, leisure and travel led to many new styles incorporating more functional elements. Take a step back in time in your finest gown (or functional slacks…) and discover the exciting fashions of the past which still give us great inspiration today.

Please note that this event may be postponed or cancelled in accordance with ongoing measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
