How did an athlete come out victorious from a slump? What remains of traditions today as we abandon them for pop culture? Akin to the darkness that emerged as one heavenly body moved into the shadow of another, TEDxWasedaU invites renowned speakers to shed light on the true gravity of the social changes in this past year. Their stories, perseverance and revelations will inspire and empower — a sliver of hope as we share a brief moment together in these unprecedented times. With the theme “Eclipse”, the event will also commemorate TEDxWasedaU‘s 10-year anniversary.
Speakers will include Ryo Miyake, an Olympic fencer working as an Uber Eats deliveryman; Tokyo-based drag performer Bill Reilly “Goma Dango;” professor and infectious disease expert Kentaro Iwata, who was gained access to the Diamond Princess; dyer and indigo master Kenta Watanabe; and social entrepreneur Dennis Chia.
