Set in the nature-preserved Sado island, Earth Celebration (EC) 2021 is a hub for spectacular outdoor concerts and activities. With so many events around the world being forced to cancel, the committees aptly connect people together by the sound of taiko, played by the entire Kodo ensemble. EC is hailed as Japan’s longest-running music festival, produced by the traditional music group and the islanders to promote the region’s culture. Summer with Kodo in Sato Island brings visitors, both online and in-person, to market stalls and energetic performances by all-star returning casts at the stage at Ogi Port Park. “We feel all the more need right now to bring people for a good time,” says EC executive producer Atsushi Sugano.
Due to the situation with Covid-19, EC will hold hybrid concerts this year, with a reduced-capacity audience in attendance and a livestream for people to enjoy from their corner of the globe.
