Detanico Lain x THE CLUB: “Between Yesterday and Tomorrow”

Art

Detanico Lain is a French–Brazilian artist duo living and working in Paris. They are a linguist and a typographer as well. They took part in several international exhibitions, receiving the Nam June Paik Award, in Germany. In 2007, they represented Brazil at the 52nd Venice Biennial. In France, they did several public artworks, including a permanent installation for the Institut de Physique du Globe in Paris, and a piece commissioned by the Louvre Museum for its new Conservation Center in Liévin, recently inaugurated.

This exhibition is conceived as a landscape, a place to observe natural elements pacing the passing of time. The installation Between Yesterday and Tomorrow is a line of light that materializes the imaginary Date Line. It symbolically divides the space in two different days, though time stays the same. It tells about the intangibility of natural cycles, so present and so mysterious. Time is transitory and thus is space.

Opening Reception: November 23 | 18:00-20:00
