Founded in the town of Ina, Nagano Prefecture, Dengakuza is a performance group that has been delighting audiences for 54 years with their blend of traditional Japanese music, taiko, dance, singing, and pantomime.

At this year’s performance in Tokyo on December 3, they will perform popular songs such as “Minakuchi-bayashi,” “Yagi-bushi,” “Kokiriko-bushi” and other traditional pieces including their famous comic musical pantomime “Torisashi-mai,” and a medley of songs that mix together different styles of drumming from all over Japan in an amazing style called “Hattenraku.” Going to see Dengakuza perform is an incredible chance to see many musical folk traditions from all across Japan by extraordinary artists.
