de-sport: The Deconstruction and Reconstruction of Sports through Art

Art

An exhibition exploring the significance of sports from an artistic perspective. Originally scheduled to open in late April, the exhibition was due to coincide with the 2020 Olympics when Tokyo would be fully focused on sports. The exhibition is titled “de-sport,” combining the French word desport (to enjoy) and to imply the deconstruction of the subject. Examining the roots of sports and its connections to the arts, society and culture, the featured works include various mediums from 10 international artists.

The exhibition start date has been postponed until late May/early June and may continue to be affected by the ongoing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please check the venue homepage for the latest information.
