Daniel Silva – HND
Daniel Silva presents “HND,” the first segment in a series of cohesive art interventions to take place across diverse settings under the collective title of We Are Experiencing Some Turbulence – Please Stow Away Your Electronic Devices. Silva’s physical approach to materials – embracing coastlines, deserts, gardens – is catalyzed by natural environments, resulting in a body of work that transcends traditional spaces.
This year-long effort begins with an immersion in Setouchi, Japan’s inland sea, where Silva undertakes a residency at Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture. The resulting artwork will be experienced locally at the artist’s workshop on June 8, and exhibited at the Outpost-81 ad hoc space in Tokyo from June 17 to 25.
Daniel Silva was born in 1981 in Colombia, and lives and works in London. Recent exhibitions include “Time & Materials” (London, 2017); “Served Live“ (Los Angeles, 2016); and “If It Bends It’s Funny (If It Breaks It’s Not Funny)” (London, 2015). He completed his MA from Central Saint Martins in 2014 with a top of the class distinction, and is represented by the Baert Gallery in Los Angeles.
The opening reception will be held on June 17 from 5pm-8pm.
