Chrysanthemum Exhibition at Shinjuku Gyoen
In late autumn Shinjuku Gyoen park holds its annual Chrysanthemum Exhibition. During the exhibition period, flowerbeds of the colorful blooms are housed under protective covers for visitors to enjoy and photograph at their leisure. Chrysanthemums are considered the symbolic seasonal flower of autumn in Japan: in addition to their imperial connections, their image even emblazons the Japanese passport. For those who enjoy a crisp November stroll, the many varieties of flower are a delightful sight in what is already one of Tokyo’s most picturesque settings.
