Chromosphere: Sabrina Ratté x Yoshi Sodeoka

UltraSuperNew Gallery presents, in collaboration with Chromatic, MASSIVart, FRAMED and MUTEK.JP, a 100% screen-based duo exhibition featuring a series of recent videos by Canadian artist Sabrina Ratté and Japanese artist Yoshi Sodeoka. Supported by a hybrid creative process that is both analog and digital, Ratté and Sodeoka deploy an unconventional artistic approach that challenges the video medium. While questioning the major issues of visual media, its perception and the interpretation of the world in the digital age, they have distinguished themselves by generating tantalizing narrative universes with singularly ultra-guided aesthetics.

Yoshi Sodeoka is a Japanese artist based in New York for over three decades, whose work is characterised by his neo-psychedelic aesthetic and exploration of multiple media and platforms. Primarily comprising of video, GIFs and print his practice also simultaneously inhabits the world of fine art, music, publications, and advertising.

Sabrina Ratté is a Canadian artist whose practice includes video, animation, installations, sculptures, audio-visual performances and prints. Mixing analog technologies, photography and 3D animation techniques, her work focuses on the creation of architecture, abstract compositions and surreal landscapes. In 2019 she was longlisted for the Sobey Art Award (CAN).

Opening reception: December 1 | 19:00–21:30
