Bunkyo Azalea Festival 2018
The yearly Azalea Festival at Nezu Shrine in Bunkyo Ward invites visitors to take a stroll through its gorgeous flowering garden. For a small fee, visitors can walk through the mounds of pink and purple azalea bushes, with more than 100 varieties, in an enclosed area of the grounds that is usually inaccessible to the public. The shrine also has a stunning long torii pathway, as well as a small pond with turtles and various religious structures – plenty to see whilst you’re there. A variety of street vendors and a series of traditional performances and events will also be taking place throughout the month-long festival. Try to avoid the weekend if you don’t like getting slowed down by the crowds snapping photos, although being stuck in a mountain of beautiful flowers really isn’t so bad!
