Book Signing with Major League Pitcher Masanori Murakami
Masanori “Mashi” Murakami was the first Japanese baseball player to take the field as a Major League Baseball player, pitching for the San Francisco Giants in 1964 and 1965. Legends Sports Bar is hosting a special signing event for a recent book, Mashi, which was written by Robert Fitts and Masanori Murakami. As a review in the Examiner states, “Fitts, coupled with Murakami’s voice and experiences, tells the proud tale of a young man who was whisked into the spotlight and became a shining example of the equality that could be reached between the Japanese and Americans on the baseball diamond. Reading Mashi brings us all a few steps closer to what it was like to be there on this landmark journey.”
Copies of the book will be sold for ¥3,000, which includes autographs of the book by Murakami.
