Ben Edmunds: Where should I go from here?

Tugging at contemporary manifestations of mythology and systems of belief, the work of British artist Ben Edmunds is chiefly characterized by its combining of the “holy,” almost archaic, formal modes of Modernist Abstract Expressionism, color field painting, and Minimalism, with the highly stylized and contemporary accents of extreme sports and fashion. Out of this synthesis of celebrated iconographies, Edmunds treads a precariously fine line between cliché and a sincere acknowledgement of human desire.

The London-based artist received a bachelors of arts degree in fine art painting from Wimbledon College of Art in 2016 and an MA in painting from Royal College of Art in 2018. Edmunds was the recipient of the 2018 Hine Painting Prize. He has been invited to participate in numerous exhibitions and art fairs across London, Milan, Belgium, Hong Kong and New York, including shows at Tatjana Pieters, Galeria Patricia Armocida, Mall Galleries London and Rizzuto Gallery.
