Asakusa Yabusame Horseback Archery

Don’t miss this chance to see a thrilling demonstration of a rare martial art. Yabusame (horseback archery) is pretty hard to practice as a hobby, requiring intricate attire, special equipment, a horse, and most challenging of all – a large amount of space. Every year, the elite Ogasawara School of archers create a special run for the horses and showcase their skills along the long stretch of Sumida Park. If you want the best view you can shell out for reserved seats. Foreign guests even have a designated block to give them the finest introduction to this slice of historical culture. The public is also welcome to watch for free from the grass area. This is a popular event so head there early if you want to secure a good spot and enjoy the action! Events are scheduled for 11:45 and 13:00.
