4-Day Intensive Japanese Woodblock Printmaking Workshop
Learn the full process of woodblock printmaking from start to finish, so you can adapt them into your own work. In this special 4-day intensive course, you will learn carving, printing, and paper handling from master woodblock carver Motoharu Asaka with translation and co-teaching from Louise Rouse, Adjunct Professor in the art program at Temple University, Japan. You will also be introduced to the ecosystem of craftspeople across the city of Tokyo to find materials that you’ll need to continue the practice.
Fee includes tools needs for the workshop, entrance to exhibitions, lunch on days spent in the studio, and papermaking experience fee.
For a detailed description of each day’s activities, see the event website.
Max number of participants: 12 people
If you’re interested in taking woodblock carving lessons but can’t make it for this intense course, there are regular lessons with Motoharu Asaka and Louise Rouse available throughout the year.
