First held in 1992, Rainbow Reel Tokyo is the city’s annual LGBTQ film festival. This year’s film festival will commemorate its 29th anniversary and showcase eight films with different cultures and genres. From a coming-of-age romance that blossoms between a stranded girl and her local new friend to a Taiwanese drama that isn’t shy to talk about euthanasia and adoption rights, these films portray a deeper layer of the LGBTQ community. Their first round of screenings will be held in [email protected] Shinjuku from Jun 16-22, and then at the Osaka venue from Jun 23-29.
