This exhibition displays costumes from about 40 countries (in Asia, Africa and Europe), including Japanese kimono. Red is often associated with the colors of the sun, fire and blood, and is therefore considered a symbol of vitality, strength and authority. White, which is technically not a color, is associated with transparency and purity, and often stands for cleanliness and sanctity. This exhibition shows the range of costumes in just these symbolic two colors.
