International DJ talent comes to Tokyo

When Tokyo based DJ and Promoter Mike Munoz started his own club night in Osaka he just wanted to play UK style house music for a few friends, fast forward five years and he is bringing DJ’s from across the world to play at his packed Shibuya based night.

London Calling, as the event came to be called has held 28 events in Japan, celebrating their 3rd birthday earlier this year.

London Calling’s underground music style is unique in Tokyo, a million miles from the commercial pop music played at clubs in Roppongi. House music pioneers In Flagranti and Bok Bok are flying from London especially for the October 9th event.

In Flagranti’s DJ  Sasha said “I am very excited to come play in Tokyo. Last time was more than 10 years ago at the club Womb! – I am looking forward to see how things have changed”.

Bok Bok

Named by London’s Time Out as one of the top 8 young UK DJ’s, Bok Bok presents a fortnightly grime and garage radio show on Sub FM and has recently produced a guest mix on BBC 1Xtra radio.  His heavy basslines can be heard on countless remixes, Bok Bok stand amongst London’s underground music elite. His sound is unique and ever evolving, quintessentially UK but also alien – a grimy futuristic house.

In Flagranti

Founder of CODEX records, Alex and Sasha’s (AKA In Flagranti) mix tapes gained a lot of street credibility in New York and London, their DIY attitude is also reflected in their record sleeve graphic design especially some of the early hand silk screened sleeves, which the Wire magazine calls “the best in the business”.
