If you're visiting Yokohama, you'll have a hard time choosing among the dozens of bars and pubs on offer. Affectionately nicknamed "craft beer town," the city is home to many of Kanagawa's best artisanal beers. The beautiful bottles make for a unique and well-appreciated souvenir. We recommend famous British pub Full Monty or warm and cozy brewery Umaya no Shokutaku if you're looking to wind down in a casual setting. Website: yokohamajapan.com

Teahouse Sekison is located at Afuri Shrine on the slopes of Mount Oyama in Kanagawa Prefecture. Befitting a mountain teahouse, the menu offers a combination of light to hearty refreshments predominantly made from local ingredients. In addition to good, strong coffee, local tea comes hot or cold. Tea is also a key element, along with eggs from Sagami no Tamago, in the decadent Seinyuchaka Tiramisu. Tender strips of Isehara beef rest atop steaming white rice all nestled in a beautiful ceramic bowl, while galettes (savory crepes) use local buckwheat flour, baby salad greens, fresh eggs and thin strips of salmon. Regional growers and producers also provide the tea, adzuki beans and milk for souvenirs. Directions: From Isehara Station take Bus #11 to the Oyama Cable Car Bus Stop. Ride the cable car to the last stop. Alternatively, from the cable car bus stop, hike up 45-minutes to the shrine. Located on a side street near Aoyama Gakuin University, this 100 percent vegan restaurant has an undeniable trendy flair, but still works for a casual lunch or evening with friends. Borrowing heavily from Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, the atmosphere itself gives you a hint of the restaurant’s extensive wine collection. Innovative dishes like tempeh souvlaki, vegetable skewers, paprika-sprinkled pita bread, ricotta-sage ravioli and tofu steak demonstrate that 8ablish — while unapologetically vegan — is nonetheless focused on taste.
