Sumo Training Workshop

Ever wondered what it would be like to get into the ring with a real sumo wrestler? Now’s your chance, thanks to this unique training experience by Raien. You’ll be able to take part in a training session that lets you see what a real sumo workout feels like – and what it feels like to go to toe to toe with wrestlers who weigh more than 100kg! What’s more, Raien is offering Tokyo Weekender readers a special discounted price of ¥4,500 (normal price ¥9,500). To claim the discount, you simply need to enter the code TWRN when making your booking (click on BOOK NOW below and then scroll down till you see the offer for “TW Readers Only”).

ABOUT THE TRAINING EXPERIENCE

It’s open to men and women, and children from 10 years and older are welcome. For the training session, please bring knee-length track pants, sweat pants, or shorts, and a bath towel if you want to take a shower afterwards. A small towel and a bottle of water will be provided. Do not wear glasses to the training session.

Participants will receive a video clip and photograph taken during their sumo training experience as a gift. The video clip will be emailed to participants. If you don’t want to be photographed or filmed, let the training staff know.
