The Crafts Gallery opened in 1977 as an annex to the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo with the objective of showinf modern crafts and design, such as ceramics, glassware, woodwork, metalwork, and more. The building itself was built during the Meiji period, and completed in 1910. It stands today as an example of the era’s penchant for Western-style brick architecture.
