MoMA Design Store Omotesando has a special shopping event this month, along with a limited-time location opening in Ginza.

The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, known as “MoMA,” has been a major presence in the art world since its founding in 1929. Almost from the beginning, the museum has made architecture and design part of its mission, and it rapidly became a powerful advocate for the importance of “Good Design” of products used in daily life. For those who appreciate both form and function, MoMA’s Design Stores are a destination in themselves.

MoMA Design Store

Although there are retail locations for the Design Stores around New York City, there had not been any stores outside of the US until 2007, when the first overseas MoMA Design Store opened in the neighborhood of Omotesando.

All of the products in the store have been approved by MoMA’s curators, and the store features MoMA’s signature selection of merchandise, including MoMA-exclusive products and some of the most recognized items from the Museum’s Design Collection.
There will be another MoMA Design Store opening for a limited time, in Ginza—from November 1 to January 31, and possibly longer. To commemorate the event, they will be selling MoMA Design Store Ginza–exclusive items, including tote bags in black and red (¥1,575 each). For more information, please visit: www.momastore.jp (Japanese only). Until the end of October, you can receive a special gift with purchases over ¥10,500 (not including other offers or sale items). This offer is not available at their online shop, so please print out this page or show it on your smartphone when you come to the register.
