Summer is barely gone, but the fashion world is already showing the Spring and Summer Collections for 2014: head over to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo to catch a glimpse.

Held twice a year to showcase the upcoming collections in the fashion cities of the world, Fashion Week has some influence on what will be made available in stores in a few short months. It’s also a chance to view the up-and-coming designers and an opportunity for manufacturers, retailers and designers to rub elbows.

Japan has a plethora of unique, talented designers, and some of them who will be showing their latest creations, including Christian Dada, Somarta, Dresscamp, Han Ahn Soon, Lamarck and Nozomi Ishiguro—just to name a few. Although most runway shows are only open to the press, designers, fashion editors and peeps of the fashion world, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is not limited to solely runway shows.

Lots of events and exhibition are open to the public, such as “Sweets Runway,” a limited edition of ‘dressed up’ sweets—in other words, a collection of high quality desserts from the likes of Pierre Hermé, Joël Robuchon and Mariage Frères all sporting a British theme. If you need a cocktail to wash down all that sugar, Bacardi and Bombay Sapphire will take care of that with fashion-themed concoctions. You can also drop by Hikarie to view installations from designers in a museum-like setting.
