An American woman was allegedly gang raped by three men in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh early Tuesday morning.

The 30-year-old woman was attacked after she accepted a lift from a truck driver from the village of Vashisht to Manali, which was three miles away, reports the BBC.

The three men, including the driver, took turns raping her for nearly an hour in a secluded area before leaving her on a highway, police inspector Abhimanyu Kumar told AFP.

“The woman cannot remember the number plate of the truck and she could not understand what the accused were talking about,” Kumar said.

Medical test have confirmed that the woman was raped. No arrests have been made but police have set up roadblocks and are searching for the suspects.

Every truck driver in Manali had been ordered to report at the local police station as part of the investigation, reports The Times of India.

The latest attack comes less than three months after a Swiss tourist was allegedly gang raped while camping with her husband in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

The number of female tourists arriving in India has also declined following the fatal gang rape of a 23-year-old medical student in New Delhi, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India revealed.
