Doki Doki Flea Market

By Vivian Morelli

No plans for Golden Week and spring cleaning left your house short of a few trinkets?

If you’re always on the lookout for odds and ends, this is the place to be. Doki Doki is apparently Japan’s largest indoor flea market, and it takes place annually during Golden Week, attracting thousands of vendors and treasure hunters alike. Browse through the countless recycled goods (in true car boot fashion) discarded by individuals, or score some handmade crafts in the ‘art’ section.

If scouring through trinkets drains you out, you can either sit down on the numerous benches (an addition this year), or take a breather and head to the ‘Gourmet Corner’, where you can sample foods for every taste. There’s also a ‘PR’ area, complete with sponsors’ booths, with games, quizzes and free goodies. The Doki Doki Flea Market has tons to offer for children, so take the toddlers along for a family day.
