Fancy some latin beats directly from Puerto Rico?

Dubbed the ‘most popular salsa group that has ever existed’, Puerto Rico’s most successful musical group has been around since the early sixties. Celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, the Latin Grammy winning guardians of the classic salsa sound, El Gran combo de Puerto Rico touch down for the Tokyo leg of their world tour, and if you like your beats salsa shaped, don’t miss them.

The founding keystone of the group is Rafael Ithier, who formed El Gran Combo from members of a defunct lineup of the great Cortijo, solidifying a hypnotic, driving sound that has become a benchmark of Puerto Rican salsa. Ithier is still very much active in the group as its director (and occasional pianist), and will join the group on a global tour expected to attract more than 2 million fans.

Here‘s a little preview of what to expect – get your hands on some tickets if you still haven’t got any plans this Friday night!
