Sumire Yamamoto, an ex-soloist for the Momoko Tani Ballet company of Tokyo, has painted scenes as recalled through the memories and eyes of a dancer. At this new exhibition there are 22 beautiful images in total, including one very large canvas. Also featured are three scenes from the Dress Rehearsal for Giselle series, including one entitled Standing By, which was painted from Yamamoto’s actual memory while standing in the wings waiting to go onstage. Among other offerings featured are seven characters from act two of the Nutcracker Suite. These works are exhibited at the J-Trip Art Gallery, and are sure to delight not only all ballet fans, but anyone who can appreciate the colorful and exciting oil paintings of a bright new artist.
