Nihonbashi flourished during the Edo period as the origin of five major national roads that still lead to different parts of Japan today. Today, the monument of Kilometer Zero is still found on the middle of the Nihonbashi Bridge. The festival celebrates the area’s history and Edo spirit by featuring a grand parade of 3,000 people who walk along Chuo Dori Avenue in various costumes.
