In the 10 or so years since her debut in 1998, Taiko Matsuo has been a constant force in the Japanese illustration world, handling up to 50 illustrations a year for magazines and books by Mitsuyo Kakuta, Kaori Ekuni and Stephen King. Her supple, delicate linework is by turns vividly colored and understatedly enigmatic. Her style is easily identifiable after the first time you see her work, and yet it remains specific and complex, tied to the subject it was produced for.
