Ito was born and raised in the rich natural surroundings of Kasama City in Ibaraki Prefecture, where he continues to be based. There, one can find a surprisingly diverse array of living organisms with vivid colors and hues and a certain sculptural beauty of form. Year round, Ibaraki’s landscapes are full of vitality and life, from the sturdy dead trees that survive the harsh winters to the lace-like frost.
