Harajuku Omotesando Super Yosakoi

Super Yosakoi 2009 (folk dancing festival), similar to that of Kochi in Shikoku Island, involves about 2,300 people from all over Japan on Harajuku-Omotesando (street), in the precincts of Meiji-Jingu, at Event Square in Yoyogi Park, and on Keyaki-Namiki-dori Ave. in front of NHK.

The festival is held, regardless of the weather, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. on the 29th, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 30th.

  1. Why in some websites this festival is marked as taking place the 22nd-23rd Aug, while others list a different date?

  2. For the past years it has been, and will be this one the last weekend of August, i.e. 29-30. Every year, though, there is a mini-version, called “pre-event” involving just a handful of teams, and not necessarily in the same location (this years was at Akasaka’s Saka square), the weekend before, i.e 22-23.
