Early Learning Centre (Preschool, Kindergarten)
(1-33-6 Higashi Terao, Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama 230-0077; Tel: 045-584-1948)
The Early Learning Centre (ELC) is for children of ages three through five. School recognizes all children are entitled to a best start in life and support to achieve their potential. A child’s experience has a vital impact on his/her future life chances, so we do our best to provide them with a safe, happy and secure learning environment.
At the Primary School, they aim to make children confident and independent learners. We provide many opportunities for students to demonstrate what they have learned. Learning at HJIS is generally inquiry-based, where students are encouraged to identify pertinent questions and construct well-informed answers.
The Primary School is from Grade 1 through Grade 6, organized at two levels:
Key Stage 1 (KS1) covers Grades 1 and 2; and,
Key Stage 2 (KS2) covers Grades 3 through 6.
HJIS inspires its students to strive for excellence in all aspects of their development: academic, artistic, social and physical, by providing the best possible learning environment that combines a well-balanced curriculum with extra-curricular activities. HJIS also challenges its students to think critically, to explore knowledge, to question facts upon finding them, to make responsible decisions and to approach learning with enthusiasm.
The Secondary School is designed to meet the needs of early adolescents through their transition from Primary education to Secondary education. Secondary School students extend their knowledge to application and take more independent steps into learning while enjoying support from their school.
