Elementary areas of instruction are mainly in English and include language, math, science, social studies and character development, critical thinking, Bible and life, music, art, and physical education. Japanese culture, abacus and basic language skills are also a part of the elementary program.
AIS features clean, bright, well-lit classrooms constructed in a modern style. Spaces for reading, studying, playing and storing materials are incorporated into each classroom. Multipurpose rooms are used to accommodates classes such as art, Bible, reading, and Japanese culture.
Teachers have access to Apple desktop and laptop computers for use in teaching, preparation, and other educational purposes. Division 2 students may use the computers for keyboarding and other subject related work. Due to ease of creative use, maintenance and security, the school encourages students to consider the benefits and stability of the Apple Macintosh OS X platform if they choose to invest in their own computer. All software used for learning purposes will be Mac-compatible.
The school maintains an audio and visual technology room equipped with computers, projectors, and sound equipment, and internet access that also serves as a viewing room where students can watch educational media. Students are also able to learn the basic skills of creating and recording sound and video and apply them to presentations and assignments.
