KIS is a small, quaint school in the heart of Kyoto city, offering a world-class international education program, Pre-School – Middle School. KIS is a recognized IB World School utilizing an international curriculum framework. All learning at KIS is based on the understanding that learning takes place when experiences are engaging and relevant to the students lives.
The after school club program for students from grade 1 to grade 9, promotes a sense of balance for both staff and students. Hobbies and interests with a solid purpose helps to extend the learning beyond the classroom, which promotes the love of learning and again connects learning to the outside world. Junior and Senior clubs are available everyday after school.
The low teacher to student ratio at KIS allows teachers to focus on individual needs allowing extra support in all areas of a students school life. The school is a large four story building leased from the city of Kyoto. There are seven spacious classrooms, an art room, music room, computer lab and library. Sports facilities include a playing field, and gym. In fall, the school learns soft tennis and in spring students take swimming lessons at a private pool 10 minutes away.
