“Fabric, needles and thread” — Oh my! The annual festival celebrating all things quilt-like returns to Tokyo for 2016. It has only just begun, so there is plenty to join in on. Sprawling across the campus are galleries featuring world-renowned favorites, classics and modern uptakes. Daily lectures and talks are scheduled to take place with prominent figures. Contests and special exhibitions will change each day.
Learn about how the quilters made their pieces, and enroll in a short workshop with professionals. The late William Morris’ pieces will be displayed, along with Japanese quilter Yoko Saito, known for her Peter Rabbit depictions. Not an ordinary event you see everyday in Tokyo, and one worth your time.
