Susanoo is a Shinto God considered to symbolize the relationship between humankind and nature, he has been widely cited as a source of artistic inspiration in Japan. Beginning its chronological tour through Susanoo-inspired artistic expression this exhibit begins in the prehistoric Jomon period and winds its way through Japan’s great scholars and artists. Ending in contemporary works, and even including some great Western art, The Coming of Susanoo explores the relationships between spirituality and nature and its influence on art this exhibition.
