Over 500 exhibitors, managing 800 booths, will be making their appearance at the 40th Japan Hobby Show at Tokyo Big Sight over the extended holiday weekend. All products on display and for sale will be made up on glass, fabric, dried flowers, wood, metals, and gems – and all are handcrafted. Their partner this year is Japan’s version of the famed website Etsy; known as “Minne,” it supports local artisans who hand-make their crafts on a small scale.
This year, the theme is “Celebration: Handmade is Gorgeous.” Meander the East Halls and be inspired by the artists and their craftsmanship. Workshops, lectures, and kits will be available for people to pick up a new hobby – or two. Kids and whole families are welcome to the event, and there’s plenty to do and see during the three-day convention. Advanced tickets are available for a discount.
